The study was conducted by Happyfy , a digital platform that is based on positive psychology and offers various activities to feel better about oneself. The study found, to begin with, that in 1960, 72% of Americans aged 18 and over were married . In 2014 the figure was reduced to 50%. But then does being single makes you happier than being in a relationship?

The study states that being single, there is a greater likelihood of maintaining close relationships with other people such as family, friends or neighbors. Moreover, by not being in a relationship, people – and especially women  – are more concerned with the well-being of others and are more willing to help others. It also allows them to flourish in other social circles by initiating other bonds that can strengthen them. The study indicates that without a romantic relationship, you focus more on your physical appearance and your health. On the other hand, 11% of singles surveyed said they had more close friends while 15% of married people said they had few friends.
