Once it was said that you do not play with food. But is it allowed to make art out of Essen? Art can do everything. We show you in the following recipe four very special egg creations.
For that you need:
For the yin yang egg:
- 2 eggs
- 150 g red cabbage
- 1 lemon
For the Chinese tea eggs:
- 6 eggs
- 2 bags of black tea
- 5 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 stick of cinnamon
- 5 pieces of star anise
- 1 teaspoon peppercorns
- 1 tsp sugar
For the egg pancakes:
- 4 egg yolks
- 2 egg whites
- Coated pan
For the heart egg:
- 1 egg
- 1 milk pack (sliced and well washed)
- 1 chopstick (ideally round)
- 2 rubber rings
That is how it goes:
1.) Yin-yang egg:
1.1) For the yin-yang egg, you first have to rub the red cabbage into a sieve. Then use a spoon to squeeze the juice out of the cabbage and set aside this juice in a bowl.
1.2) Separate an egg and put the egg white in a bowl. Set aside the egg yolk for now. Then add a spoonful of red cabbage juice to the egg whites and stir well.
1.3) Separate another egg and add some red cabbage juice to the egg whites as well. In addition, press the juice of half a lemon and stir it with the colored egg whites. Now you will get a different color than in step 1.2.
1.4) Heat a pan and add some oil. Place both colored eggs side by side in the pan and place one egg yolk on each of the colorful egg white areas. After about 4 minutes, the yin-yang egg is ready to serve.
2.) Chinese tea eggs
2.1) Boil water in a pot and add the 6 eggs. After 3 minutes, you take the eggs out, scare them off with ice water, and gently tap them with a teaspoon to make the peel break easily.
2.2) In the water in which the eggs were cooked, you now give the peppercorns, cinnamon, sugar and star anise. Also, add two bags of black tea. Now let the eggs with the broken shell simmer for about two hours with the other ingredients in the water. From time to time you have to add some water, otherwise, the eggs are not completely covered anymore. When you finally peel them, they reveal their spectacular surface appearance.
3.) Egg pancakes
Separate 4 eggs and stir the egg yolk. Then pour the egg yolk and egg whites into a wash bottle. Now inject the sample into a pre-heated, coated pan. Once the egg has stabilized, you can turn it over, fry it from the other side and look forward to the beautiful color spirals.
4.) Heart egg
4.1) Cut a milk carton as we show it in the video. Cook an egg for 10 minutes, then briefly fry it with cold water and peel it gently.
4.2) Now lay the egg lengthwise in the cut milk carton and gently push a chopstick on top. With two rubber bands, you can fix the stick on the milk carton. Place the egg in the fridge for about 1 hour. During this time it changes its shape under pressure and becomes the heart egg.
So the food is twice as fun. Creativity is as much a part of the kitchen as salt and pepper. Have fun trying it out!
