A young woman has just stated that she had an incredibly uncomfortable conversation with her boss after some colleagues complained that she had leg hair.
The woman with no name (and no hair on the tongue … quack ), 21, explained everything in a Reddit post. She revealed that she does not like wasting “time or money” shaving her legs since she is not a very hairy person.
“The only time I shave is when I’m dating a new guy in my life and I’ve been with my current boyfriend for three years now. He doesn’t give a rats a** if I shave my legs,” she wrote.
She went on to say that she normally travels or works at events and festivals, but recently she had to go to the office to pick up some things.
While there, her boss called her to her office to talk to her.
“I was so red and stuttered, but he finally told me we needed to talk about hygiene.” “I was in literal shock. I was so ashamed and asked him what he meant. ”
“My boss then proceeded to tell me that some people complained that I was not shaving my legs and said that I was against company policy that I was not being hygienic. I was even more surprised. ”
“I told him that I did not understand what it had to do with my work. Also, I asked him if he shaved his legs and he still didn’t answer me. Then I stood up and said if we were going to keep talking about this, I would prefer HR to be there and he told me that we didn’t need to discuss it anymore. ”
People rushed to share their support and the controversy arose.
One person commented: “These are sexist bulls ***. Wow Absolutely incredibly ridiculous. Would you ask an employee to shave his legs? How unhygienic for you, but not for any man who has leg hair? I am sincerely horrified. “
Another replied: “It is an insult to pretend that this has something to do with hygiene.”
“YOU DON’T NEED TO LEAVE YOUR LEGS IF YOU DON’T WANT TO,” proclaimed a third party. (with a razor in his hand)
However, not everyone agreed, some noted that men are often not allowed to wear work shorts that show the hair on their legs.
“One thing I want to say is that corporate office workplaces often have a dress code that stipulates that men cover their entire legs (that is, men wear only long pants, shorts are not allowed). This means that, according to the dress code, the hair of the male legs is never shown, ”said someone else.
And the controversy remained open. What do you think?
